Save the Date: Friday, October 25, 2024: The Cybersecurity Institute will hold its second annual hackathon in CS 150/151 starting at 9:00 AM. The event will bring together CICS graduate students, faculty, and cybersecurity industry professionals from Massachusetts-based companies MITRE and Pixel Forensics.
The hackathon's primary focus is to make machine learning techniques easily accessible to investigators of crimes against children. Such investigators, whether working at NGOs, industry Trust & Safety teams, or government, could make use of information extraction tools that are applied to images, videos, text, and audio. Most tools are part of expensive software suites. In the hackathon, the goal will be for participants to code well-known models as command-line tools. For each tool, we'll also construct a dataset and performance baseline the dataset. Another goal of the hackathon is to create a common GUI for the suite of command line tools. Via this approach, we hope to make quick progress that will last beyond the hackathon.
