COMPSCI 590F Advanced Digital Forensics

This course introduces students to the principal activities and state-of-the-art techniques involved in developing digital forensics systems. Topics covered may include: advanced file carving and reconstruction, forensic analysis of modern filesystems, network forensics, mobile device forensics, memory forensics, and anti-forensics.

The course is available to students in two ways:

  • Online: Graduate students may take the online section, which does not require physical attendance. Students must come to Amherst for exams or hire a proctoring service for the date and time of exams, including any midterms or finals. 
  • In-person: Students must physically attend lectures (in Amherst). Undergraduates must take the in-person section.

The course is the same content regardless of whether taken online or in-person.
